On the other hand, the General Training is for students who want to study vocational courses, skilled workers and for those who want to migrate abroad.
- Choose your preferred dates.
Slots are limited so it is better to register at least 2 months before your preferred date.
- Register online, onsite or by post.
You can visit IDP and British Council websites to register online. A scanned copy of your passport is needed to register. You can also visit British Council and IDP personally to register. Third option is to mail your application form to Examination Services.
- Pay the registration fee.

Don’t forget to enclose your completed application form, photocopy of your ID and cheque payment if you are paying through mail.
Registering Online vs. Registering Onsite
Online registration is more convenient than onsite registration. You would just need to upload a scanned copy of your passport. You can also pay online.

British Council vs. IDP?
The IELTS exam is designed by Cambridge ESOL Examinations. British Council and IDP Australia are the only two testing centres which administer the exam. It doesn’t matter where you take it since the tests are all the same. There is no truth that one testing centre is easier than the other. the examiners have been trained to assess your speaking and writing skills accurately. They have been trained on the International English Language Testing System standards so they would judge candidates fairly and honestly.
